Dajoji Company Information

Our logo was inspired by the modern windmill, an image that evokes thoughts of movement and sustainability. The company name came after that; Dajoji is the name of the Iroquois spirit of the western wind, a panther. Both the logo and the name convey what we are creating at Dajoji: modern, sustainable chef coats built for movement.

Traditional chef jackets are boxy, difficult to move in and made with harmful chemicals. They’re also not very modern or stylish. Dajoji fills a void in the kitchen apparel market by creating sustainable, athletically inspired, and attractive chef’s coats that are designed by chefs for chefs. We like the idea of knowing exactly where our food comes from; we don’t like eating meat grown with antibiotics or vegetables grown with pesticides and we enjoy working with the farmers who grow our food. With this in mind, we thought why not carry these values over into the clothes we wear when we make that food? Dajoji garments are traceable from the farm to the hanger. They are made from unbleached organic cotton grown by the Texas Organic Cotton Farmer’s Cooperative free of pesticides and petro chemicals (unlike most clothes). We’ve taken care to consider everything from the men’s coat buttons, which are made from the seed of a fruit that grows naturally in the South American Rainforest, to the post consumer recyclable and compostable bags that we use to ship your coat to you.
