Dajoji is committed to sustainability — from the materials our coats are made from, to the packaging your coat arrives in.

Fabric

• 100% Organic Cotton, grown in Texas by farmers who are members of the Texas Organic Cotton Farmer’s Cooperative.
• Natural off-white. No bleaching or other chemical finishes are used on the fabric at any point in it’s production. This means that no chemical toxins are released into the environment.
• Spinning, weaving, and finishing are all completed in the United States in facilities that meet or exceed North American standards.

Buttons

Men’s:

• 100% Corozo, collected in the Ecuadorian rainforest. Corozo is the seed of a mature fruit that naturally falls from a small palm that is indigenous and grows naturally in Ecuador. No harm is done to the environment through harvesting.
• No bleach, dyes, or chemicals are used in the production of the buttons we use on our coats.
• Corozo button production is helping the local economy in Ecuador, and it is doing so without encouraging clear cutting for farming.

Women's:

• Handmade covered buttons made of the same 100% organic cotton that our apparel is made of. They are made by N.T. Garments, in Surrey BC, during the cut and sew portion of production.

Packaging

We didn’t forget about sustainability when it comes to getting your coat to you. After a lot of searching we have come up with a solution that is not only made of post consumer and recycled materials, but is also compostable and recyclable. In addition, the packaging weighs only ounces, cutting back on the shipping weight and, thus, the carbon footprint.

Carbon Footprint

Aside from the buttons, all of Dajoji's materials and production are within North America. We don't use overseas materials and production facilities which means that our carbon footprint for shipping materials is very small. The decision to use the corozo buttons was based on how small and easily transported they are without creating a large carbon footprint, as well as the fact that there isn’t a comparable natural product available closer. Along with being concerned about our carbon footprint for production, we care about our impact when shipping. By having our apparel produced and stored locally we are able to ship directly to you. So it’s a straight shot from us to you.
